Baby Rattles
I came up with the idea for the wood baby rattle after my wife became pregnant. I was looking for some ideas of toys online that I could make for my son and stumbled upon rattles made from one solid piece of wood.
I made a few like what I found online; long handle on one end and two rings on the other. It was a good design but when my son was really young (2 months old or so) he would hit himself in the head or in the eye. So I came up with the design of one ring on top and bottom and the handle in the middle. I call them baby dumbbells or baby shake weights rattles.

Description:
Every rattle is turned on a lathe one at a time, so every one is a one of a kind. They are made from a variety of wood species: Black Walnut, Hard Maple, Cherry, and Lyptus. I used those species of wood because they are beautiful hard woods and I had them in stock. Some of the rattles are cut from one solid piece of wood while others are made from strip of two or more species of wood glued together. The rattles come in all sizes and shapes. I make three types and/or sizes of rattles: Small, Medium, and Large. Small is what I call the Parents Rattle, because parents can use them to entertain newborns or when you are sitting at your desk at work. It is not for the use of small children. Medium rattles only have one ring and the handle. Large rattles have the handle and two rings. All baby rattles are sealed with a FDA approved finish that soaks deep into the wood and does not build up on the surface of the rattle. So they are safe to chewed on teeth or no teeth.
